The Silk Story

Nourishing, healthy foods can help change your life—and our world. That's the spirit that launched Silk soymilk more than three decades ago. Silk soymilk has changed a lot since those early days. (Sorry, we're no longer making our once-popular Carob-Maple flavor.) But our commitment to a healthier world has never wavered.

Launched in 1978, Silk was first embraced as a surprisingly delicious “health food” by the tofu-and-granola crowd in our hometown of Boulder, Colorado. In a few short years, we grew to become America's #1 soymilk brand, welcomed in refrigerators across the country. Today, Silk fans come from every walk of life—from serious athletes looking for powerful nutrition to everyday folk who just love the taste. But no matter why you choose it, our soymilk remains as good for you as ever—simple, wholesome and nourishing as nature intended.

We've known from the start that changing the world takes more than great taste and nutrition, so we've always tried hard to be good neighbors, too. We began by supporting our local Community Food Share—and we still do. But as Silk soymilk has grown, so has our definition of neighborhood, expanding to touch the communities across the country in which we do business and the environment we all share.

From our support of renewable energy to our commitment to responsible soybean sourcing, we recognize that every business decision we make has a significant community impact. Our goal: to leave a legacy we can all feel good about.
